The city of Wausau's unemployment rate stayed the same from June to July while it declined one-half a percentage point in Marathon and Lincoln counties, according to newly released data.

Wausau's 9.6 percent jobless rate last month was fourth highest among Wisconsin's 32 largest cities, according to the state Department of Workforce Development. Only Racine at 12.3 percent, Beloit at 11.2 percent and Milwaukee at 10.6 percent had higher rates.

The June rate in Wausau also was 9.6 percent, but the city's July rate was down from 10.1 percent a year earlier, the state reported. ...
