Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to reporters after Wednesdayís practice. Here are some highlights from his news conference:

♦ (Rookie defensive end) Datone Jones stepped off the field today. Looked like he rolled his ankle. Same ankle.

♦ (Rookie linebacker) Andy Mulumba has a knee injury. Something that came up in meetings last night. Iím not sure what his availability will be, if he will be available for (Friday night's preseason game against) Seattle.

♦ I thought (quarterback) Aaron Rodgers looked fine. I thought we started off the way it needed to be. As far as individual performance, Iím a little jaded right now.

♦ (Format of practice was) something we tried. This was a Friday in-season practice. Weíre on a six-day week, thereís a number of six-day weeks. Thereís a number of moving parts, but players are supposed to practice and when the pads are on you have to practice a certain way and we didnít do that today.

♦ We didnít take full advantage to get ready to play.

♦ (Kicker) Mason Crosby. Itís not a good day. Like a lot of other guys if you want to write about that stuff.

♦ Seattle very good football team, very good on decision. Itís important for us to play well as a team. We need to play well. You canít have a better opponent.

♦ (Wide receiver) Randall Cobb was in a limited practice mode today. He has a chance for Friday. Know Randall is very close. (Wide receiver) Jordy (Nelson) is getting close.

♦ (Running backs) DuJuan Harris and Eddie Lacy are great to have back. Harris and Lacy need technical work.

♦ Weíll discuss that tomorrow (whether Harris will play on Friday). I thought he looked good today. He practiced the way he was supposed to. Iíd like to get him out there.

♦ Second half of practice didnít look the way it was supposed to look.

♦ Day before preseason game is the same as regular season. Just try to get their body clocks working in that direction.

♦ Communicate. (Asked what he does when he's ticked at players and there isn't another practice before a game.)

♦ (Quarterback) Vince Young has been putting in a lot of extra time with (quarterbacks coach) Ben McAdoo. Heís getting more and more comfortable this next week. Look for Vince to get some opportunities (on Friday night).

♦ How much the starters will play (on Friday night) will come down to our conversation tomorrow as a staff. Donít have it set today. Guys who have been injured the whole camp. Thatís what weíre working through.

♦ I know we have two right tackles who can play. Maybe make a decision after the game.

♦ I just want to see (rookie wide receiver) Charles Johnson play. If he can go out and play fast. Heís probably at a disadvantage without the timing and reps. For a young man to go out with first live action, want to see him do the best he can. Hopefully, he can go (Friday).
