Downtown businesses chime in on Fox Theater future

The historic Fox Theater on Main Street in downtown Stevens Point seems to have attracted the lime light again, and a new audience eagerly anticipates its grand re-opening.

The theater, built in 1894, closed in 1986. In February, the Portage County Arts Alliance formed the nonprofit Fox Theater LLC. The group now owns the theater and has been brainstorming and planning how to get the theater open again.

Many have walked past the rusty red and white marquee for more than 25 years wondering if and when the theater would open its doors again. As news swirls around the potential come back for the Fox ...
