As the majority of the Newman Catholic football team headed off the field at the end of practice Tuesday afternoon, the team's placekicker remained to get some extra work in ahead of Friday's season opener.

Teamed with Cardinals' long snapper Nate Prososki and holder Nick Thoreson, the kicker lined up from roughly the distance of an extra-point attempt and drove one kick after another between the goal posts as a few coaches and teammates watched.

Wearing the Cardinals' white helmet and red practice jersey, the kicker looked like any other member of the team - just the way she wants it. ...
