The city of Wausau is cracking down on building inspections to fight blight after City Council members complained about a slow and ineffective inspection process that has frustrated residents across many districts.

Starting this month, inspectors will issue citations after one warning instead of two, and two city inspectors normally assigned to other tasks will work two days a week on building-code violations to ease the burden of Wausau's single full-time building inspector.
