Standing a few feet away from the some of the cows in his herd, Mike Gerrits talked about everything from using sand bedding for its animals to milk production on the southern Brown County farm.

The conversation was part of a discussion with about 30 state and local officials who were part of a daylong tour hosted this week by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association aimed at featuring the inner workings of Wisconsin dairy farms and cheese plants.
