Letter: Skyward is putting Wisconsin on path to job growth

EDITOR: I participated in Skyward Inc.'s July 31 celebration of its central Wisconsin expansion. Skyward is adding 50 great-paying jobs to our area in its new corporate headquarters, and growing from 600 employees to more than 1,000 in the future.

I had the opportunity to share the stage with four other Wisconsin legislators: Sen. Julie Lassa and Reps. Katrina Shankland, Amy Sue Vruwink and Scott Krug. This celebration showed how much we can accomplish when we put political differences aside for the betterment of Wisconsin. Although we can't take all the credit - Skyward employees, their friends and families, local schools and business owners and leaders all worked to keep Skyward in Wisconsin.

Going forward, our school districts will have a choice and not be mandated to use a particular vendor. They could save hundreds of thousands of dollars by not having to retrofit or change to a new computer system. It also gives them the freedom to choose a system that works for their district's individual needs, rather than a "one size fits all" approach.

I am proud to have been a part of this from the beginning and proud of what we accomplished. I commend those in the Legislature for supporting this measure and for Gov. Scott Walker's approval and signing a multivendor system into law. Job growth and expansion is on the horizon for Skyward and central Wisconsin.

Rep. John Spiros,

86th Assembly District,

Marshfield
