An Adams County woman who had been missing for almost two days died Thursday evening at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Alice Peterson, 64, of Arkdale was unconscious when found near Port Edwards, about a quarter of a mile from where searchers found her vehicle, according to a news release from the Adams County Sheriff's Department. She was transported to the Marshfield hospital, where she had been listed in critical condition.

Authorities began searching for Peterson on Tuesday afternoon after it was reported she hadn't been seen since she left her home Monday morning.

Authorities are continuing the investigation into her disappearance and death, Adams County Sheriff Sam Wollin said. However, at this time, there is nothing to indicate the death is suspicious. Wood County Sheriff's Department Lt. Quentin Ellis said an autopsy was being done Friday.
