Columnist's view: They must still make Beach Boys shirts somewhere

There's a question I've thought of asking for maybe the past 15 years: When (and why) did they stop making vertically striped shirts?

The last one I bought was probably 30 years ago. I wore it out. It had medium blue stripes, just like the shirts of the five Beach Boys' trademark look in their early days.

I still have a picture sleeve from my 45 rpm copy of "I Get Around" - with "Don't Worry Baby" on the flip - that I bought new in 1964. Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and high school buddy Al Jardine were wearing matching light blue-and-white vertically striped button-up shirts. ...
