A meeting for local women interested in participating in the 30th annual Miss Wisconsin Rapids Area scholarship pageant are invited to an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at River Cities Community Bank, 1601 Lincoln St., Wisconsin Rapids, according to a news release from Laura Williams, co-executive director of the event.

Women between the ages of 17 and 24 who are residents of central Wisconsin and at least a senior in high school are eligible to participate. Each contestant competes in the following areas; private interview, talent, evening gown and lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit.

Current Miss Wisconsin Rapids Area Katie Bakunowicz will crown her successor on Oct. 26 at the Performing Arts Center in Wisconsin Rapids. On the local level, the pageant offered $12,100 in scholarships to area women last year, including a $2,500 award to the winner, according to the release.
