Fire causes minimal damage to apartment complex

A fire in the basement of a multifamily residence at 1230 First St. N., Wisconsin Rapids, on Friday night caused minimal damage, but the residents will be displaced for some time.

The fire occurred at about 10 p.m., said Capt. Bob Barteck of the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department.

"Due to the fire's damage to the home's wiring system, the power has been disconnected, and occupants are displaced until repairs can be made," Barteck said. ...
