Kicking competition becomes three-way battle with addition of Ramirez

The Green Bay Packers took unusual, even exceptional measures Sunday when they signed a third kicker to their training camp roster.

Twelve NFL teams have two kickers in their camps, and only one other one (Tampa Bay) has three, though that's because the Buccaneers' preferred kicker, Lawrence Tynes, is sidelined indefinitely because of a staph infection.

"We had three kickers (on) the practice field today," an exasperated McCarthy said after practice Sunday. "I think that illustrates how exactly we feel about the kicking position. There's a job available, and someone needs to jump ...
