The Green Bay Packers pared their roster back to two kickers after releasing Giorgio Tavecchio on Monday.

However, Packers coach Mike McCarthy left open the possibility of bringing Tavecchio back, indicating Monday's move was more of a matter of bringing the roster to the mandated 75-player limit by Tuesday.

"The kicking competition isnít over," McCarthy said after practice on Monday. "We have a good handle on Giorgioís performance. Thereís a scenario where we may bring him back."

The left-footed Tavecchio was signed by the Packers as a free agent on March 26 to challenge incumbent Mason Crosby after an inconsistent 2012 season.

Crosby's struggles have continued in training camp, which included a 3-for-8 performance at the teamís Family Night scrimmage and missing three consecutive attempts during practice last Wednesday.

Crosby converted the team's only field goal attempt in Friday's 17-10 preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field, but that didn't stop the Packers from working out a pair of kickers on Sunday and signing Zach Ramirez to the roster.
