Following are the highlights from coach Mike McCarthy's press conference following the Packers' practice Monday:
*On why they cut Tavaecchio: what I told him, heís still part of the competition. We need to cut to 75, will take it all the way until tomorrow, the final cutdown is not clear to us. The kicking competition isnít over. We have a good handle on giorgioís performance, thereís a scenario where we may bring him back. Hoping to resolve sooner than later, important for kickers to take advantage opportunity and game.
*On whether Ramirez gets first shot kicking this week: we have a kicking script tomorrow, different than the one we did yesterday.
*On Dorsey, Moses injuries: toe injuries for both.
Are you inclined to sit Rodgers: play time will be similar to past, emphasis will be younger players, tomorrow is padded practice, need to get that work in before deciding who plays.
*On Vince Young and BJ Coleman at backup QBs: There needs to be more consistency in production, move team consistently down the field and get in the end zone. Vince will get the opportunities and BJ will also.
Rodgers ready: Iíd say aaron is game ready. Heís been very sharp. I feel very confident Aaronís ready to go.
*On why the offensive line and why the run game failed against Seattle: It depends part of the game youíre talking about. The first group with Rodgers in there and DuJuan Harris, after that it was an eight-man front and we had a lot of declaration errors. Iím not concerned about it as a whole.
* On whether Van Roten or Lewis is ready to play if Evan Dietrch-Smith is hurt at center: They better. Been given every opportunity to get ready. Greg hasnít gotten most of the work and needs to get some things cleaned up.
*On DuJuan Harrisí knee: heís getting a second opinion, still gathering information.
* On Burnett and Hayward being available for opener: I canít tell you right now, which is normal. Players say they can go but thereís the medical side of it too.
Brad Jonesí hamstring injury, will he play?: you can rule out Brad Jones.
