Creatures great and small attend church service

At an outdoor service held Sunday at a Wausau church, much of the congregation whined, yelped and barked in an uncommonly unruly fashion.

One even ran into the bushes and hid, if only for a moment, but no one seemed to mind. They were forgiven, even indulged, because more than half of the congregation at this unusual service had four legs.

Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and one small gerbil attended the second annual Blessing of Pets at First English Lutheran Church, where the Rev. Erik Olson gave each pet a personal blessing in a celebration of God's creatures. Pet owners lined up their lawn ...
