Man loses arm in farm accident

A man lost his arm while chopping hay on a farm near Brussels in the town of Gardner early Monday.

Adam J. Scudder, 30, Brussels, was working as a hired hand on a farm at 2068 Brussels Road, owned by Sara Lardo, when his arm became stuck in the hay chopper at about 7:17 a.m., according to a Door County Sheriff's Department report.

Scudder made a phone call to Lardo, who was in the barn at the time and missed the call. About two minutes later, Lardo said, she went out, found Scudder caught in the hay chopper and called 911. She turned the tractor off and tried to free him from the equipment. Soon after, ...
