Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker gave the opening remarks to students, university staff and business leaders during the University and Community partners in business development and economic growth conference held at UW-Oshkosh.
Economic growth in Wisconsin depends on businesses, universities and technical colleges to collaborate to address growing workforce needs, Gov. Scott Walker said Monday.
Walker said companies from manufacturers to information technology firms face a "looming challenge" to fill jobs as baby boomers begin to retire. He said events like Monday's "University + Community" regional workshop at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the state's investment in education represent first steps toward confronting that challenge.
