The Green Bay Notre Dame girls cross-country team made a fifth consecutive WIAA state appearance last year.
There’s a good chance the Tritons will be making a sixth straight trip this season.
Notre Dame returns four of the five runners who came in between the 22nd and 32nd places of the Division 2 state meet, where the Tritons finished as runners-up to Dodgeville/Mineral Point.
In Division 1, G.B. Preble and Bay Port also return four of the top five runners from their state teams. However, the Hornets have to replace Jill Englebert, who posted the fastest state time from the Green Bay-Metro area in her fourth state appearance.
Green Bay East senior Emily McCoy has the fastest state time among returning Division 1 and 2 runners. She won the Fox River Classic Conference East Division meet and took second at the FRCC and Kimberly sectional meets behind Englebert in advancing to her first state meet.
McCoy also qualified for state in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs during the track and field season.
Three Lakes senior Natalie Miller is the returning runner from Press-Gazette Media’s coverage area with the top state time. The Northern Lakes Conference champion medaled with a sixth-place finish in D3.
