District budgets $1.3M for staff raises

The Stevens Point Area Public School District will set aside more than $1.35 million in its 2013-14 budget to give teachers and other employees raises and salary adjustments.

The School Board on Monday approved the measure as the district is working to develop a new formula for compensating employees.

Tom Owens, the district's director of business services, said $350,000 will be used for adjustments to hourly pay or salary increases recommended by a consultant who is working to ensure that all district employees are being compensated fairly. The remaining $1,044,903 will be reserved for ...
