Weston man heads to prison on 8th OWI conviction

A Weston man who led police on a chase by car and on foot through a section of Rothschild will spend five years in prison after being convicted Tuesday on his eighth drunken driving offense in 11 years.

Cole Knapp, 29, had a preliminary blood alcohol content of 0.188 percent a short time after he was arrested May 11, according to a police report. The legal limit for driving in Wisconsin is 0.08 percent, but Knapp was prohibited from driving with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.02 percent as a result of his previous drunken driving convictions.
