A man accused of leading authorities on a high-speed chase through two counties was formally charged Monday.

Justin Habeck, 31, of Wisconsin Rapids, faces felony charges of eluding an officer and three counts of retail theft after a chase with a deputy that reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour.

Deputies began chasing Habeck on Highway 54 going toward Wisconsin Rapids after a Portage County Sheriff's deputy spotted a car that matched the description of that of a suspect wanted by Plover police for stealing electronics from Walmart. ...
