John Kacmarynski and Mary Jeanne McNally were married July 6, 1963, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Emmetsburg, Iowa.
John and Mary Jeanne Kacmarynski celebrated 50 years together starting with a July 5 cookout at their Sturgeon Bay home for out-of-town family. There were 125 attendees from 14 different states.
On July 6 they celebrated with a 4 p.m. Mass at St. Josephs Catholic Church with a blessing of the married couple. A reception followed at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club with dinner and dancing for 175 family and friends.
On July 6, 1963, John E. Kacmarynski and Mary Jeanne McNally were married by the Rev. C.E. Farrelly at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Emmetsburg, Iowa. John graduated from Mallard High School, Mallard, Iowa, and Mary Jeanne graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School and Emmetsburg Community College.
They honeymooned throughout Wisconsin, Canada and Minnesota and moved to St. Anna, Wis.
Job opportunities for John brought him to Sturgeon Bay in 1981, and the rest of the family joined him in 1983. He worked in sales prior to spending 27 years at Marine Travelift. He started in sales, moving up to the position of vice president.
Mary Jeanne was a school teacher, then a substitute teacher while raising their four children. After moving to Sturgeon Bay, she became a teacher's aide at Sunset School.
Their children are Jeanne (Jeff) Brauns, West Chester, Ohio; Pamela Kacmarynski, Sheboygan; John (Colleen Nickolette) Kacmarynski, Edmonds, Wash.; David (Jenn) Kacmarynski, Fairborn, Ohio.
Their seven grandchildren are Laren and Zach Brauns, West Chester, Ohio; Heather Karnopp, Sheboygan; Tyler Karnopp, Green Bay; Caden, Ella and Reid Kacmarynski, Fairborn, Ohio.
John is a member of Knights of Columbus and volunteer driver for veterans. He also is a skilled handyman and woodworker. Mary Jeanne belongs to the Apple Polishers HCE and Peninsula Players garden club. She enjoys baking, cooking and gardening. They are both active church volunteers.
The Kacmarynskis have traveled and camped across the United States, Canada and Mexico and traveled overseas for both work and vacations. They also have enjoyed snowmobiling as a family since 1969.
