As part of Paste.com's 50 States Project, the magazine has released its list of "10 Wisconsin Bands You Should Listen to Now."

A few of the selections are noteworthy, including Appleton-raised singer-songwriter Cory Chisel coming in at No. 2. At No. 10 is Justin Vernon of Bon Iver's other band Volcano Choir, which has an excellent new album coming out Sept. 3 (but you can stream it now at NPRMusic.com).

Also worth pointing out is that several of the listed acts have played the Meyer Theatre in Green Bay as part of its Near Water Concert Series, this year's Metro Jam in Milwaukee or Appleton's first-time Mile of Music fest earlier this month.

1. Blessed Feathers, West Bend

2. Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons, Appleton

3. The Daredevil Christopher Wright, Eau Claire

4. Field Report, Milwaukee

5. Jaill, Milwaukee

6. Juniper Tar, Milwaukee

7. PHOX, Baraboo/Madison

8. Trapper Schoepp and the Shades, Milwaukee

9. Vic + Gab, Milwaukee

10. Volcano Choir, Eau Claire
