Rodgers, Matthews and Finley sit against Chiefs

Vince Young will start at quarterback for the Packers in place of Aaron Rodgers in Thursday night's preseason finale against Kansas City, coach Mike McCarthy confirmed in his pre-game interview.

Along with Rodgers, linebacker Clay Matthews and Jermichael Finley will not play as clean scratches in the finale. Rodgers finishes the preseason with 17-of-24 passes for 237 yards.

The Packers announced five players won't dress due to injury: cornerbacks Casey Hayward (hamstring), Jarrett Bush (ankle) and James Nixon (ankle, knee), and Morgan Burnett (hamstring) and Brad Jones (hamstring).

The team lost the three defensive mainstays will out sit out after suffering hamstring flare-ups in last Friday’s 17-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Whether or not Rodgers will play against the Chiefs has been a popular topic after the 29-year-old quarterback only took scout-team reps in practice this week.

The Packers moved eight players on the injured reserve and physically unable to perform list this week en route to having 70 of their 75 players currently on the roster eligible to play against the Chiefs.
