The social-media kicking sensation “Kickalicious” worked out for the Packers today.

Havard Rugland tweeted this afternoon that he “Had a great workout with Green bay this morning. Thankful for the opportunity.”

Rugland had been in training camp with the Detroit Lions and was released in the roster reduction to 75 players.

There are no indications the Packers are looking to sign a kicker and likely were taking a looksee at Rugland in person for the first time. Though Mason Crosby had a couple of bad stretches in camp, he appears to be locked into a roster spot to start the season after making 26 of 27 field goal attempts in live practice periods and a preseason game the past week.

The 28-year-old Rugland is from Norway and first drew notice from NFL scouts with a video he posted on social media that included numerous trick-shot type kicks, such as into moving canoes and cars, that demonstrated superb accuracy. He had no football experience before trying out for NFL teams in the spring.

In the preseason with the Lions, he made all three of his field goal attempts, from 49, 50 and 33 yards. The Lions kept David Akers as their kicker.
