School is back in session Tuesday, and drivers are reminded that children may be waiting for their school bus. Be extra careful when driving, and keep an eye out for youngsters who may not be looking when crossing the road. The law requires all traffic to stop for school bus traffic when flashing lights are observed.
Support food pantries
Do you have extra fresh garden produce? If so, please take it to your local food pantry so that others may enjoy the fruits of the season. The food pantries always welcome your donations.
The Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department has sent letters to all owners of Jacksonport shore property for signed permission to treat phragmities for free this fall starting after Labor Day.
Send the permission sheet back ASAP. They are looking for 100 percent participation. Send the signed form even if you think you don't have phragmites, as they may appear next year and they hope to provide a two-year treatment.
If you did not receive a letter or wish to speak to someone, the contact is Greg at (920) 746-2214 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Letters will be sent out soon to local area businesses and local area civic groups and organizations providing them with information for participating in the 2014 Jacksonport Area Brochure and on www.jacksonport.net.
The upgraded and updated brochure and website were very well received by both residents and visitors this year. It provided people with both a paper and Internet version of the area and all that it has to offer. It also informed residents and visitors about the local participating civic groups and organizations and the various fundraising events they sponsor to help with their various projects and group goals.
If you are interested in being a part of the 2014 Jacksonport Area Brochure and website, please contact Joe Jarosh at 823-2288 or email@example.com.
