Some say we're in the midst of a golden age for TV drama. Whether or not that label is accurate I can't say - I haven't spent nearly enough time in front of the tube, let alone on Earth, to state such a claim - but it's hard to deny that today's television slate is packed with high-concept, high-quality shows.

Two such dramas that have been near and dear to my heart over the past half-decade are on the verge of rolling their credits for the final time. Showtime's "Dexter" will air its final episode Sept. 22 and AMC's "Breaking Bad" bids farewell Sept. 29. It's bittersweet for both, but for very different ...
