The voluntary group, the Teen Library Council, will kick off the school year with a meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in the Fond du Lac Public Library Board Room, lower level.

Teens in grades 6 through 12 are invited to meet and talk about the books, movies and music they like and to advise library staff on programs that young adults would find fun and interesting. Refreshments will be served. There's no registration required - just drop in.

The teen council holds monthly meetings that are loosely structured to talk and have fun. Serving on the council, which acts as an advisory board to the library, satisfies community service and volunteer requirements at many schools.

The council is supervised by Youth Services Coordinator Sarah Newton. For more info., contact Newton at snewton@fdlpl.org or 322-3941.
