Seneca Wallace talks about signing with Packers

Sep. 2, 2013

Seneca Wallace met with the Green Bay media for the first time this afternoon after signing with the Packers. Here are some of the highlights:

His thoughts on coming to Green Bay: Excited. Just being back out here in the Midwest where it all started for me, really, I played at Iowa State, so to be back out here in the Midwest and be with Aaron Rodgers and just this organization is awesome. Theyve been doing a great job around here for years. So Im just excited to be here.

On picking up the offense: It has a lot of carryover from the West Coast terminology that Im used to. Mike Holmgren was here and I was with him in Seattle for seven years. Theres a lot of carryover. Now its just trying to hone in, especially in this kind of week with the game coming up and I just got here, trying to take in as much as I can.

On his biggest challenge: Its just learning. Trying to pick up on, trying to learn peoples names, trying to figure out where Im supposed to go in the locker room. Its tough, its part of the business, you never know when you can get into a situation. For me, just getting here last night, trying to pick up as much as I can. They do a great job as far as providing me with the resources that I need to be able to pick up the offense as fast as I can. Just going to dig into the playbook and learn as much as I can.

On his veteran experience: I think its been some years since they had a veteran quarterback backup to try to help ARod during the game and during the meetings and things like that. Just some of the insight that I can provide being around for a long time. I guess Im the oldest one in the locker room, which is hilarious. Its exciting just to be able to keep playing in this journey.

On whether he was going to retire: No, no. Its just miscommunication between me and (49ers coach Jim) Harbaugh. We talked about it. I called him to communicate that to him. It was just pretty much miscommunication between me and him.
