9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor fallen firefighters

Organizers expect more than 300 people to participate in a 110-story stair climb Saturday to honor the fallen firefighters of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, as well as a Colby firefighter who died last year on duty.

The climb, which will be held Saturday at the Ghidorzi Cos. Corporate Cove Tower in Wausau, is part of a national event with similar climbs being held across the country. Organizers expect people to show up from all across the state, as well as northern Michigan, to participate because it is the only 9/11 climb in the state this month.
