Sheriff's Department: Victim in fatal crash was wanted by Menasha police

One person is dead after an SUV struck a tractor trailer Tuesday morning on Highway 29.

The crash happened just after 1 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 160, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Keith L. Carpenter, 35, of Menasha was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Shawano County Sheriff's Dept. news release.

A preliminary investigation shows an SUV, driven by Carpenter, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of traffic when it struck the trailer head-on and burst into flames, police said. ...
