What can parents do to rear a teen who is well-behaved, happy and respectful?

Strategies that don't seem to work include shouting at them, yelling, screaming, swearing, insulting or calling them names, which is defined as harsh verbal discipline, says a study out today.

The study says those parenting actions increase the risk that the teen will misbehave and have symptoms of depression.
