Green Knights season opener Saturday
The St. Norbert College football team will start the 2013 season with a nonconference game against John Carroll (Ohio) University at a neutral site for the second straight year.
A year after the Green Knights lost 40-3 to John Carroll in Dublin, Ireland, the teams will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Toyota Park in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview.

SNC is the preseason favorite to repeat as Midwest Conference champion.
Youth football camp at De Pere HS
The fourth annual Redbirds Football Mini-Camp will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Saturdays of Sept. 14, 21 and 28 at De Pere High School's Dad Braisher Field, 1700 Chicago St.
The camp is open to boys and girls in second through sixth grades.
Participants will learn fundamentals and skills of football and play flag-football games. Cleats are encouraged.
The participation fee for the three sessions of the camp is $20, which includes a T-shirt. Financial aid can be provided.
Registration is due Wednesday, Sept. 11.

St. Norbert youth basketball camp
Gary Grzesk, head coach of the men's basketball team at St. Norbert College in De Pere, will hold the third annual Sunday Skills Camp this month.
The basketball camp is for children in grades 2 to 8, focusing on skills and fundamentals.
It will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the Sundays of Sept. 15, 22 and 29 at Schuldes Sports Center on the St. Norbert campus.
Cost is $50 per participant.
The first half of the camp will include ball handling, shooting and passing drills aimed at improving individual skill work.
The second half of the camp will feature structured 3-on-3 games for players to work on their skills in a game setting. Teams will be split up by age and ability.

Challenge Run on Sept. 21 at SNC
The second annual Don Schneider Memorial Challenge Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at St. Norbert College.
The 5K event will begin at 9 a.m. as part of the college's SNC Day activities.
The course will start and finish on campus, looping south on Lost Dauphin Road.
The event is loosely based on the "Tough Mudder" obstacle-course races designed by British Special Forces but won't be extreme.
Registration cost is $15, which includes a commemorative T-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division.

Showers and food/refreshments will be available after the race.
