OHS girls golf season underway

The 2013 Oconto High School girls golf season has entered its third week of competition.

On Aug. 26, the Blue Devils traveled to Riverside Country Club in Menominee to take part in the 12-team Marinette Invitational, played in Menominee, Mich. The girls struggled with the heat and the course and shot a 478, tying for 11th place, said coach Russ Young

On Aug. 20, the girls traveled to Waupaca, finishing 5th with a team score of 457. The Blue Devils were led by senior Maryssa Daul, who shot a 107. Her fellow seniors Tessa Christopherson (108) and Emily Hockers (123) were joined by sophomore Amber Moder (120) and freshman Megan Ryan (122).

The following day the girls participated in the five-team Green Bay East Invite at The Woods, finishing third with a team score of 409. Daul earned a medal with a score of 96. Hockers finished 11th with a 100, while Christopherson shot a 105, Moder a 108 and Ryan a 121.

Daul, Christopherson and Hockers are seniors; Ashley Pruessler, Breanna Neering, Rebecca Humblet and MacKenna York are joiners, joined by sophomores Moder and Katie Schneider, along with freshman Ryan.
