There was no need for the Merrill volleyball team to travel 6,369 miles to China to see the "Great Wall."

A 45-mile jaunt, south down Highway 39 did the trick in the form of the Stevens Point Area Senior High front row, enabled the Bluejays an opportunity to see a wall just as imposing - at least on a volleyball court.

SPASH's quartet of Haley Williams, Mackenzie Rechner, Lauren Gerads and Kara Stutesman put up a block that was close to impenetrable during the Wisconsin Valley Conference opener for both teams Thursday night. ...
