EDITOR: Something is fowl in Schofield and it's not the pigeons.

Many times when your complaints fall on deaf ears, people say "get involved." So I commend Schofield City Council member Sue Martell for running for office and trying to make the city a better place to live.

Schofield recently was the subject of a kerfuffle when a resident was told he would have to give up his racing pigeons. I was at a Council meeting where I heard and understood the word "fowl" in the city ordinance applied to pigeons. This was also stated by the lawyer.

Now, according to the mayor, it's okay to violate ordinances in Schofield because we don't have the money or power to enforce them.

The only issue at hand: Is keeping pigeons a violation or not? Clear and simple. We need a Council and a mayor who will enforce our ordinances. We don't need front page coverage from Daily Herald Media.

Now, according to the mayor, we can have a pigeon coop on every block in Schofield.

Wayne Soukup,

Schofield
