City street construction continues in spots

Chestnut Ave. project 2 weeks behind schedule

The thuds and thrums of construction equipment isn't ending any time soon in the city's downtown along the Chestnut Avenue reconstruction project or in the neighborhoods bordering sections of Lincoln and Oak avenues.

The Chestnut Avenue project is about two weeks behind schedule with a target date for completion around Nov. 1, said Tom Turchi, engineer in the Marshfield Public Works Department. Daily penalties of $1,105 can be assessed against the project's contractor, A-1 Excavating Inc., if the company doesn't meet the deadlines set by the city, Turchi said.
