Would-be robber who changed mind gets 10 days in jail

A 20-year-old Pittsville man authorities say planned a robbery - but changed his mind - was sentenced in Wood County Circuit Court to 10 days in jail.

Justin E. Mathews admitted to the Pittsville police chief, on June 8, that he had gone to the Cenex Truck Stop, 8315 Highway 13, Pittsville, at closing time on May 30. He wore a ski mask and carried a plastic bag and BB-gun, according to the complaint. Mathews entered the store, but then left without committing the robbery.
