Photos from the fair

Central Wisconsin Sunday photographer Casey Lake shares photos he took with a smartphone app at the Minnesota State Fair. For a gallery of more photos and video, go to www.marshfieldnewsherald.com, www.wisconsinrapidstribune.com or www.stevenspointjournal.com. He explains his photos:

"I took my iPhone 4S to the Minnesota State Fair recently. I'm from Minneapolis. I've been to the fair many times, with a variety of film and digital cameras. I wanted to see how my iPhone held up while shooting the fair.

"I shot still photos and video at the same time with an app called ProCamera. We use it for work. It has a better stablization setting then the iPhone's own, and it allows you to shoot still photos easily while shooting video at the same time.

"The iPhone can handle a variety of lighting situations and does quote a nice job, so you can shoot and post on the web as soon as the photo is done.

I have not tried making prints from these or any iPhone photos yet, but my life has become pretty digital, so making prints or having prints made is something that a normally don't do much of anymore.

"The fair was fun, as it has been since my first trip there as a youngster. Making memories with my iPhone, without having to be loaded down with all my gear, was a nice change. The only real issue I had was battery power; I started fully charged, shot quite a bit of both video and stills, and the battery died after about four hours, but I was pushing it to the limit. Have fun with your iPhone camera, until the next time."
