Sept. 8, 1959 - Preble looks ahead to second 100 years: Preble Park was turned into a midway last weekend as several thousand helped the town celebrate its first 100 years.

The highlight of the Saturday program was the crowning of Cleo Van Straten, the Centennial Queen. Cleo is a 1959 graduate of Preble High and intends to use the $250 first place prize to augment her music school scholarship at Central State College, Stevens Point. Runner-up was Barbara Joslin, who received a $100 prize. She also is planning to attend Central State. Third place went to Mary Jo Berken who won $50.

On Sunday, Atty. Gen. John W. Reynolds, Jr. of Green Bay participated in the unveiling of the eight foot granite monument at Newberry and Skyline Boulevard at the Preble Park entrance, it commemorates the 100 years of the town and the names of the 14 men who served as town chairmen during that period.
