Senior photo won't be complete picture of son

The other morning, son No. 2 and I ventured off to Hortonville for his photo consult. No, he's not having a portfolio assembled for his male modeling debut in New York City. Nor is he preparing to audition for a sitcom featuring a bald kid who looks good in hats. It's time for his senior picture.

Six years ago, when son No. 1 had his senior pictures snapped, I opened the Yellow Pages to "photographers," closed my eyes and launched a dart at the page. Preparation included clean hair and skin. The result: an 11x14 photo of my eldest, right hand in his pocket and left arm akimbo, the whole thing then slyly ...
