Former New Village Bakery will reopen as commercial kitchen for small food-makers (with video)

Amy Powers wants to provide a place to grow for people who have a passion for cooking and an idea to turn it into a business.

Powers plans to achieve her community-kitchen concept when she opens The Village Hive Bakery & Local Foods Collective in early October at 127 N. Main St. The site previously was home to the New Village Bakery, which Powers ran along with baker David Ryle. Ryle left the business at the end of April, and Powers had been looking for a use for the property.
