It could be argued that San Francisco safety Eric Reid was the difference in the 49ers' season-opening 34-28 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Or to put it another way, the 49ers possessed a quality safety and the Packers didn't.

Part of the blame can be chalked up to bum luck. Had the Packers' Morgan Burnett not pulled up lame with a hamstring injury last week, it's possible the Packers would have won the game. ...
