Put on your shoes and run!

The seventh annual Trail Run/Walk for Education, more commonly known as Fun'd Run 2013, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Wausau School Forest in Mosinee.

The event features a 1K Chipmunk Challenge for kids 10 and younger, a 5K and a 10K, and the courses are said to be "meticulously marked." The run is in the woods after all, so a well-thought out course is important.

An outdoor craft area also will be set up for children, who can make bird feeders and whirligigs.

The early registration fee for the 5K and 10K runs is $20; race day registration is $25. Students pay $15. The fee is $5 for the 1K. Families (maximum of four people) participating in the 5K and 10K pay $50. A bus will transport participants at 8:30 a.m. from John Muir Middle School on Stewart Avenue in Wausau to the school forest, if you need a ride. The bus returns to the school at about 11:15 a.m.

You can register online at thefoundationwsd.org or at the run/walk site, 2340 Highway KK, starting one hour before the event begins.

Proceeds will support students and education opportunities in the Wausau School District.
