In a rivalry game that featured plenty of offensive fireworks, the most critical score came on the defensive side of the ball for the Xavier football team.

Zach Simons' 90-yard interception return in the first quarter thwarted a potential Fox Valley Lutheran scoring drive and put Xavier in the driver's seat in the Hawks' 59-20 Eastern Valley Conference victory over the Foxes at Fox Valley Lutheran in the 27th annual Apple Bowl on Friday.
