It was challenging enough that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had to bounce back from a devastating knee injury suffered last January in the playoffs.

But as Griffin prepares to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field, he also is battling a common malady that plagues many of the league's quarterbacks. It's called the sophomore slump, and it applies to signal callers who enter their second season as a full-time starter.

Griffin posted an impressive 102.4 passer rating as a rookie, but if history is any indication, he will be hard-pressed to duplicate that ...
