Constitution Week, celebrated Sept. 17 to 23, is the commemoration of America's most important document. In 1955, the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to set a week aside each year, dedicated to the document which helps maintain American liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights. The resolution was adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into law Aug. 2, 1956, by former President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
