The transition from summer to fall will rev up snowmobile enthusiasts, with several grass drag races and swap meets being held locally and around the state in the coming weeks.

Each year, an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 people attend the Wausau Snowmobile Grass Drags and Swap Meet, to be held Sept. 28 and 29 in the town of Stettin. Now in its 24th year, the annual event is hosted by the Trailmates Snowmobile Club; the event generally draws more than 250 people who sell and swap virtually anything related to snowmobiling and ATVs, said Club President Randy Thurs, who also acts as chairman of the event.
