State's open carry law should be repealed

A recent story about Appleton that has gone national involves two men who felt the need to carry two rifles and two handguns while going shopping at the farmers market. One of the men said to a news reporter, "We never did it to prove a point."

You can be the judge of this statement as the men slung rifles over their shoulders, strapped handguns on their belts and videotaped as they walked several blocks to a farmers market attended by hundreds of families and their children.

In their defense, the weapons weren't illegal machine guns. They were AR15-type lightweight semi-automatic rifles ...
