Man charged with slipping drug in Wisconsin Rapids bartender's drink

A 50-year-old Milwaukee man authorities say placed a drug in the drink of a woman in a Wisconsin Rapids tavern made his initial appearance Monday in Wood County Circuit Court.

Michael J. Shanahan is charged with felony placing foreign objects in edibles as a repeat offender and three counts misdemeanor bail jumping. Shanahan, who appeared in front of Wood County Circuit Judge Greg Potter on Monday, is being held on a $1,000 cash bond set Sept. 3 by Wood County Circuit Judge Todd Wolf.
